Founded in 1992, Hudson Shakespeare Company continues striving toward bringing the classics and contemporary theater to a myriad of locations and venues in New Jersey and the greater Tri-State area. Through our programs, we seek to create innovative and comfortable atmospheres for all of our personnel, from on stage to back stage and provide broad cultural and artistic exposure and an overall inviting experience for our audiences. At the same time, we have prided ourselves on a long tradition of giving first time directors, actors and technicians their "first crack" in the theater. The company hopes to continue expanding its current touring base and emerging school programs.

L. Robert Johnson

Founder/Managing Director

Mr. Johnson began acting and working as a technical advisor over 30 years ago with such NYC companies as Riverside Shakespeare Comapny, All Souls Players, and New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players. Hoping to drum up interest in Shakespeare and increase the presence of theater in his native Jersey City, NJ, he co-founded Civic Theater of Hudson County, Patchwork Theater

Comapny and eventually Hudson Shakespeare Company. Producer of over 90 theatrical productions, some of his favorite directing credits Taming of the Sherw, A Midsummer Nights Dream and Antigone. Mr Johnson was honored in 2005 with Jersey City "Everyday Hero Award" for work community work in bringing the arts to the community.

Jon Ciccarelli

Artistic Director

Joining the Hudson Shakespeare Company as an actor in 1996 and as Artistic Director since 1998, Jon has directed over 25 Shakespeare and modern productions and produced over 80 productions for the company. Some of his directorial favorites include Cymbeline, Pericles, Henry V, Hamlet, A Few Good Men, Six Degrees of Separation, Proof and Run for Your Wife. In 2009, Jon directed The Sword Politik for the Midtown International Theater Festival. Jon has trained under Vivenne Heilborn and Bernard Lloyd with the Royal Shakespeare Company,

studied with NJ based director and teacher Joesph Russo.and under the tutelage of Gilbert Rathbun and Peter Reader, he obtained a BA in Communications - Theater Concentraion from Seton Hall University. Previous honors: Winner of the Best Dramatic scene competition with the ACT actor's convention and nominated for a Perry award in Theatrical Management.

Michael Hagins

Resident Fight Choreographer

Michael joined HSC in 2004 and has choreographed over 60 shows in the tri-state area, over 15 with Hudson Shakespeare Company. He has choreographed fights from different periods of plays from Greek theatre to Shakepseare to contemporary work, and has done so in spaces from the tiniest of black boxes to the great outdoors. He is a pending actor-combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors, and has Recognized

Recommended proficiency in Unarmed, Single Sword, Broadsword, Sword and Shield, Quarterstaff, and Small Sword. His primary training has come from Combat Inc. under Ray Rodriguez and Galway McCullough, and from Fights4 under Michael Chin and Robert 'Tink' Tuftee. Michael is also versed in European weaponry and history, and has used several such weapons in his fights, along with the oddest of found weapons such as pillows, teddy bears, canes and sticks. In addition, he has performed in over 50 shows and directed over 20 in the past 6 years. Some HSC directing credits include Julius Caesar, Twelfth Night, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Romeo and Juliet and The Winter's Tale.

Noelle Fair

Resident Shakespeare Teaching Artist

Originally from the Baltimore/DC Metro area, Noelle graduated from Towson University in 2006 and has also trained with Irondale Ensemble Project with their Teaching Artist Intensives program. She began teaching artist work in college with Baltimore Shakespeare Festival where she worked with resident teaching artist, Marianne Angelella, assisting as Text Coach and Fight Captain of a production of

Henry IV, Part 1, .at Baltimore City College Noelle also worked with the National Theater Workshop of the Handicapped - which is a resident actor training/performing facility in Belfast, Maine for actors with dissabilities. After graduation, Noelle was asked to head up the drama programs for a camp in Massachusettes where her group of middle school girls performed the World Premiere of Under the Greenwood Tree, a children's book that was adapted into a performance piece using Shakespeare text. Noelle joined Hudson Shakespeare Company in 2008 as Resident Shakespeare Teaching Artist, designing and facilitating several Shakespeare workshops for their school programs. Some programs have included introductions Shakespeare for the Solomon Schectner Middle and High School, West Orange, NJ, St. Mary's High School, Jersey City, NJ, & West Morris Central High School in Chester, NJ and Introductory and Advanced Scene Studies for Fort Lee High School, Fort Leet, NJ. In the summer of 2008 Noelle worked with Shakespeare in the Valley's "Reach for the Stars" Kids' Camp as their Asst. Stage Combat Teacher.
